Matthew was appointed General Manager in 2018, having joined the Trustees Executors team in January 2005. Matthew has over 35 years of experience in financial services, including banking, treasury, fund administration and operations, both in New Zealand and in the UK.
Matthew’s key strengths are in operations management, strategy, people management, leadership, regulatory compliance and risk management.
Prior to being appointed as General Manager, Matthew had extensive experience in being a trustee and supervisor for Managed Investment Schemes (including KiwiSaver Schemes), Securitisation, Non-Bank Deposit Takers, Debt Issuers and Retirement Villages.

Head of Client Supervision
Shahazad Contractor
Head of Client Supervision
Shahazad was appointed Head of Client Supervision in 2018, having joined the Trustees Executors team in April 2003. Shahazad has over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector.
Prior to joining Trustees Executors, Shahazad spent three years with TOWER Portfolio Administration Services providing retail custody and WRAP services. Before emigrating to NZ in 2000, Shahazad spent six years with India’s largest Custodian and Depository participant.
Shahazad has key strengths in leadership, regulatory compliance, risk management, financial analysis and business operations.
Shahazad leads the Trustees Executors’ Supervision team and is responsible for the delivery of supervision services to our clients and stakeholder engagement with the regulators.
Shahazad has extensive experience in supervising Managed Investment Schemes (including KiwiSaver and restricted workplace savings schemes), Debt issuers and Non-Bank Deposit Takers.

Senior Client Manager
Stuart Howard
Senior Client Manager
Stuart has over 30 years’ experience in the corporate trust world both in Australia and New Zealand. Stuart joined Trustees Executors in May 2021 to work on a number of projects including scheme consolidation and ESG until joining the Supervision team in November 2022.
His extensive experience with the Australian corporate trust business and regulators brings great value to the team.
Stuart’s expertise includes business management, development and growth, risk and compliance, client relationships and operations gained from his leadership and operational experience in the corporate trust and financial services industry. Stuart’s appointments cover Managed Investment Schemes (including KiwiSaver Schemes).

David Shaw
Senior Client Manager
David joined Trustees Executors in 2018 after emigrating to New Zealand from South Africa. David has over 25 years of experience in the banking and finance industry across New Zealand and South Africa.
David’s key strengths include leadership, risk management, regulatory compliance, operations and business development.

Michael Coote
CAIA, Client Manager
Michael joined Trustees Executors as a Client Manager in 2018. Before that Michael had already acquired decades of experience in New Zealand’s financial services sector.
Michael’s career has spanned the managed funds industry including KiwiSaver, retail and mezzanine managed funds distribution, financial product design, investment seminar presentation, financial adviser education, conference speaking, researching and writing news media articles, radio and television broadcasting, KiwiSaver scheme member communications, and personalized financial and insurance advice.
Michael writes the articles for “The Supervisor”, Trustees Executors’ in-house newsletter which is published on a regular basis covering topics relevant to the current market environment. Michael’s appointments include Managed Investment Schemes (including KiwiSaver) and retirement villages.

Karan Ahuja
Client Manager
Karan was appointed to his Client Manager role in October 2022, having joined the Trustees Executors team as an Operational Risk Analyst in January 2020. Karan has over 15 years of experience in risk management, regulatory compliance, and analytical roles across New Zealand and international financial services sectors.
Prior to emigrating from India in 2016, Karan worked with Ernst & Young as a Senior Analyst within the Quality & Risk Management division. Karan has also held roles with a number of reputable New Zealand organisations, gaining extensive experience in risk assessment and stakeholder engagement.
Karan’s key strengths include client relationship management, regulatory stakeholder engagement, financial and risk analysis, governance oversight, and regulatory compliance. He works closely with issuers, fund managers, and governing bodies to support strong governance practices and compliance with regulatory obligations. Karan’s portfolio includes appointments across Debt Issuers, Managed Investment Schemes, Non-Bank Deposit Takers, and Local Authorities.

Stewart McPherson
Client Manager
Stewart joined the Trustees Executors team in November 2022, initially as an Operational Risk Analyst, and worked on a range of MIS general clients’ supervision activities. Stuart was promoted to the role of Client Manager in March 2026.
With over 20 years’ experience in financial services, both in New Zealand and the UK, Stewart brings expertise from a wide variety of roles; these include time as a financial adviser, compliance management and as the Risk & Regulatory Officer for a global insurance business.
Stewart’s appointments cover Managed Investment Schemes (including KiwiSaver Schemes) and Retirement Villages.

Hemal Thanipullige
Client Assurance Manager
Hemal joined the Trustees Executors team in June 2024 and has over 13 years of experience in Financial Services Industry.
Prior to joining Trustees Executors, Hemal worked with NZ Guardian Trust (VISTRA Group) as a Financial Analyst. Hemal has also worked for other reputable New Zealand companies and international organisations in relationship management and project management roles. Hemal’s key strengths are client and stakeholder management, agile risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Hemal is focused on client outcomes and has a special interest in ESG.

Operations Manager
Josh Ramsay
Operations Manager
Josh was appointed Operations Manager in February 2024. Josh brings over 10 years of experience in financial services operations, with a strong focus on custodial and wrap service environments.
Prior to joining Trustees Executors, Josh spent eight years with ASB Securities managing operations for the Aegis financial services wrap platform. After that, Josh was employed by AMP as Operations Lead for their Wealth View wrap service.
Across these roles, Josh developed deep operational expertise supporting complex investment structures and high-volume transactional environments.
Josh’s key strengths lie in building collaborative, high-performing teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Josh is a tech-savvy people leader with a genuine passion for supporting staff and nurturing talent, enabling individuals to build confidence, develop new skills, and progress in their careers.

Alex Wainwright
Head of Risk & Compliance
Alex was appointed to lead the Risk & Compliance function at Trustees Executors as the Head of Risk & Compliance in 2023. Alex joined Trustees Executors in 2016. Prior tohis current role Alex has held roles as a Client Analyst, Client Manager, and Compliance Manager.
Alex has over 15 years of experience in financial services and has strong experience across both first and second line of defense. Before joining Trustees Executors, Alex worked as the Trust Account Manager for a medium-sized Auckland law firm and was involved with the administration of mortgage trusts and property syndications. Alex’s key strengths are leadership, regulatory compliance and risk management.
