Jonathan is an actuary and asset consultant who has worked in private practice for over 30 years. He has advised the New Zealand and Russian Governments on superannuation and investment matters. In 2002 he advised the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade on investment aspects of their pension reforms. In 2004 he conducted the first independent review of the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation for the Treasury.

He is past chair of Workplace Savings (the sister organisation to ASFA) and a past President of the NZ Society of Actuaries. Jonathan was an independent Trustee for the Shell New Zealand Pension Fund for seven years and a non-executive Director of Tainui Group Holdings for six years. He advises a number of Iwi funds, University Endowments, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Charitable Trusts and corporates on investment and superannuation matters.
